An international Pharmaceutical business is currently seeking an API Purchaser to join their team in Dublin. The focus of the role will be to support the General Management in all procurement and sourcing activities related to the API category. Helping to identify cost reduction, quality of supply and material improvement opportunities. Aiding to continuously improve sourcing process, and facilitate sourcing initiatives and supplier selection process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage relationship with suppliers, leading contract agreements, guaranteeing on time deliveries, the continuity of supply and develop negotiation strategies to achieve the best market prices for the company.

Develop a strong market knowledge to benchmark costs and identify alternative sourcing strategies to drive cost reductions and eliminate any supply chain risks.

Execute supplier qualification processes, supplier selection, contract development, implementation and ongoing supply base management process.

Work collaboratively with Key Stakeholders (developing strong support relationships), including manufacturing sites and R&D, to create, implement, lead, and maintain sourcing strategies to support the overall business strategy.

Identify and display sourcing best practices in API procurement.

Implement a measurable year on year total cost reduction and quality indicators (i.e. quality of API and quality of suppliers) on API sourcing strategies and services.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Good negotiation skills with conflict resolution and problem solving abilities.

Ability to interact collaboratively and effectively in a team environment with external and internal Stakeholders (including Logistics, Manufacturing, R&D, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, and Legal).

Well-developed oral and written communication skills.



Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Engineering, Procurement or related field.

4 or more years of experience purchasing (desirably in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients).

Experience managing important annual spends.

Experience procuring materials to support a varied product portfolio.
