Embedded Software Engineer

Our client an innovative, rapidly growing medical device start-up company based in Dublin has a great opportunity for an experienced, hard-working, hands-on and passionate, embedded software engineer to join the team and shape product development activity. Role will be adapted / evolved depending on the experience of candidate. Ultimately, we’re seeking an individual to lead the development of the embedded software for the system, provide input into the overall design, and grow with the company. Role is full-time.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Lead embedded software development for the system in compliance with IEC 62304, 60601 & 14971, from high level (i.e., architecture) to detailed design;
• Lead the development of the firmware related sections of the design history file including specifically:
o Requirements specification;
o Software verification and validation;
o Software risk management
• Coordinate the software testing of the system to determine the testing required to demonstrate system safety and efficacy;
• Participate in cross functional product development;
• Demonstrate best-in-class software development methodologies;
• Collaborate with R&D colleagues to develop robust designs meeting all of the required design inputs;
• Support intellectual property activities

Role/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Computer science, engineering, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience in embedded software product development
o Ideally in medical devices / regulated industry
• Strong C/C++ embedded coding skills
• Familiarity with IEC 62304 and V-model for software development life cycle
• Proficiency in using software tools for embedded applications (debugger, linkers, etc)
• Experience in implementation of communication protocols (UART, SPI, High Speed USB, Bluetooth);
• Proficiency in understanding electronics schematics and use of lab test equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, logic analyser, signal generator, etc);
• Experience in high speed data acquisition system preferred;
• Experience on signal processing (FIR filters, FFT, etc.) preferred;
• Strong communication and influencing skills – good listener
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Target driven individual who can work to own initiative
