Global Procurement - Category Managers
Our client a global biopharmaceutical company are currently seeking Global Procurement Category Managers to support external manufacturing, actives and intermediates. Reporting directly to the US based Associate Director of Procurement. The Category Manager will be part of the global team responsible for procurement of externally manufactured chemical intermediates, regulatory starting materials and active pharmaceutical ingredients and implementing strategic sourcing solutions for commercial supply.


Implement high value sourcing strategies appropriate for all phases of the commercial product lifecycle, from launch through to mature products and post loss of exclusivity utilizing a Strategic Category Management approach.
Implement sourcing roadmap and initiatives and contribute to strong supplier relationship management, including selective strategic partnerships with Pharmaceutical Development and GMS External Manufacturing.
Execute sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, and supplier relationship opportunities and issues to implement best in class sourcing and procurement for this category.
Align all divisions and manufacturing sites to execute the category strategy, embracing and enforcing compliance with all Global Procurement policies, processes and standards for world-class category sourcing, achievement of annual operating budget and attainment of long-term growth plans, and building sustainable and reliable pharmaceutical supply chains.
Contribute to annual budgeting with year to year standard costs, budget variances and PPV metrics.
Maintain category expertise around all elements of the category i.e. business trends, mergers and acquisitions, feedstock cost changes, etc, while maintaining a complete and current knowledge of key suppliers in the category (financial strength, technical expertise, etc).
Maintain appropriate working knowledge of pertinent regulatory elements of the category, including financial, quality, logistics and safety.


5 + years of business experience with a minimum 1-3 years experience in Global Procurement or Procurement activities, External Manufacturing Management .
Experience in GMP manufacturing or related field is required.
Proven ability to operate and influence high levels of the organization, both with internal stakeholders as well as external suppliers.
Proven Strategic thinker. Strong analytical, communication , critical thinking and problem solving skills required.
Expertise in sourcing for GMP external manufacturing services a plus.
Demonstrated success of global category management, preferably within pharmaceuticals or chemicals manufacturing industries.
Experience in API synthesis/manufacturing environment is highly desired.
