The Role

A leading healthcare business is currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join their Logistics department based in County Dublin. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the primary role of the Senior is to manage the purchasing of all packaging materials and raw materials and to manage the purchase of consumable and non-inventory items.

Key Responsibilities

· Liaise with the Production Department and the Warehouse to determine material requirements and ensure the timely supply of approved materials to Production.
· Interface with suppliers in: handling RFQs, price and service negotiations; on issues of quality and documentation; on ensuring timelines are clearly communicated.
· Coordinate and manage other Buyers within the role.
· Maintain the SAP purchasing system, and this person will be expected to take on ad hoc project work and to take part in Continuous Improvement activities on site.

The Person

Essential
• A 3rd Level qualification in Purchasing/Material Management.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a high-volume manufacturing site.
• Excellent level of computer literacy and knowledge of ERP systems.
• Previous people management experience is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and clear evidence of leadership skills.
• Proven ability to work in cross-functional team environments, as well as independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organisation skills.
• Good decision-making skills.
• Will be proactive and flexible.

Desirable
• Previous experience with new product introduction in a manufacturing site is desired.
• Purchasing experience in a Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology is a clear advantage.
• Strong experience with SAP is a distinct advantage.
