Senior Environmental Compliance Manager

Our Dublin based client are currently recruiting for a Senior Environmental Compliance Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with stakeholders and stakeholder management.


• Integrate various capabilities and expertise of the organisations interdepartmental operations and personnel in pursuit of a seamless connection between the strategic, operational and tactical levels of regional environmental well-being
• Participate with other key leaders in developing and establishing Global EHS Regional policies
• Supervise and ensure the successful integration of these activities with those of other major organizational segments, thus promoting operational success of Regional Environmental Compliance
• Serve as the subject matter expert for EMEA environmental compliance, environmental regulatory requirements, environmental permitting and reporting, Industrial Emissions licensing, ISO 14001 certifications, and other environmental aspects associated with the EMEA region. Serve as subject matter expert and resource for DGSA compliance
• Serve as a resource/subject matter expert for design, operation, management, and oversight of various air pollution control devices, waste water treatment plants, waste management systems, etc
• Participate in the strategic planning and the development of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and processes within the Company that support the “best work environment” and the effective business operations of Regional EMEA Environmental Compliance
• Participate in the development, implementation and execution of comprehensive regional strategies to ensure an environmentally sound workplace, to protect the communities in which the organisation operates, while ensuring compliance and minimizing liability
• Participate in engineering design and review teams for various projects such as new facilities, modifications, process improvements, hazard assessments, controls, systems, etc. with an ability to demonstrate sound engineering solutions
• Participate in the following supervisory functions within the department as required: Interviewing, hiring, training employees, setting expectations, organizational development, performance management, succession planning, motivating, coaching, and problem resolution
• Participate in the planning and forecasting processes for regional business statistics, operational budget and expenses, and capital budget as required
• Review departmental business strategy and evaluate possible integration of new industry tools and technology to increase departmental efficiencies and effectiveness concerning environmental impacts
• Participate in the development and reporting of environmental metrics and drive the environmental stewardship program within the region. Support the company’s sustainability objectives as required.
• Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with administrators, directors, and other employees to develop, implement, maintain and review appropriate environmental policies and practices within the region
• Drive consistent environmental compliance programs and standards across the organization at the regional and site level. Monitor the regional regulatory landscape to asses impacts and drive control/mitigating measures such as pollution control devices, waste water treatment systems, etc. Confer with various country, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies and consultants to monitor new developments in the environmental arena.
• Manage the gathering and conduction of assessments, studies, data and analyses concerning environmental performance for the purpose of the detection of potential environmental hazards, deficiencies, and pollution prevention and reduction. Make sound recommendation(s) for corrective action or preventive measures
• Assist Global EHS with environmental due diligence, acquisitions, divestitures, site closures, decommissioning, remediation, etc. as required


• Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Science, or equivalent
• 5-7 years experience in an Environmental Compliance/Management role
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, statutes and regulations
• Knowledge of international environmental laws, statutes and regulations is a plus
• Knowledge of basic chemistry, chemicals and their properties is preferred
• Knowledge of the technical EHS requirements and programs needed for a global company
• Experience within a corporate domain, which involves interaction with and standardization of multiple work sites with varying demographics and regulatory agendas
• An understanding of the cultural and national differences as they affect EHS requirements, communications and business practices
• Proficient with reading and interpreting the regulations and other regulatory standards and advisory criteria
