Company: My client is an early-stage medical device start-up company focused on the design and development of novel devices for the treatment of Intracranial Atherosclerotic Disease.
Role: As an Associate R&D Engineer role will involve working in the R&D department on the development of innovative neurovascular products. Due to the nature of working in an early-stage start-up, the successful candidate will be involved in the early phase of product design and development.
- Development of new tests to evaluate prototypes including the design of test fixtures and drafting of test procedures.
- Compiling specifications and dealing with external suppliers to manufacture fixtures
- The testing and evaluation of prototypes and competitor product
- Development of device components and the drafting of component specifications
- The development of anatomical models for device testing
- Performing simulated use procedures.
- Developing assembly processes and drafting manufacturing procedures.
Requirements:
- Be willing to learn about the therapy and disease state through instruction and self-directed research.
- Have an interest in the hands-on set up and testing of medical devices
- Be interested in device performance and design from first principals
- Have a good grasp of 3D CAD, (SolidWorks preferably but not essential)
- Be familiar with 3D printing.
- Candidates need to be self-motivated and willing to work under their own initiative when required.
- Have good report writing skills to document the output of testing.
- Have the flexibility to work in a start-up environment, working independently and within a small team.
