POSITION: Biomedical Researcher – Neurovascular Disease

Role:
The Biomedical researcher position requires the candidate to have the ability to carry out high caliber research to investigate stroke pathology and its treatment in collaboration with established leaders in this research area. The role will provide the researcher the opportunity to carry out fundamental research based in a fast-paced industry with a diverse and experienced team, while also participating in strong interactions with academic and clinical partners.
The specific focus of the research project is to compile, analyze and interpret data arising from a large, global, clinical registry. The aim is to investigate relationships between pathological clots removed from a treatment population of ischemic stroke patients and clinical outcomes, procedural factors, and underlying patient characteristics.
Key Responsibilities:
To perform this role, the candidate will be required to carry out the following research work:- Develop a deep understanding of acute ischemic stroke pathology and its treatment in the acute setting.
- Become intimately familiar with the Clinical Registry that is the source of data for the research project.
- Acquire an extensive knowledge of the current state of research relating to stroke clot analysis.
- Compile, analyze and interpret the extensive set of data amassed in the registry.
- Collaborate with colleagues from Clinical Research, Biostatistics and R&D; and externally, with clinicians and academic researchers to uncover associations between clot characteristics and meaningful patient and/or procedural factors.
- Communicate project progress and results.
- Write project reports.
- Write and contribute to publications in peer reviewed journals for presentation at international scientific conferences.
Behaviors & Skills:
- The candidate must be able to collaborate with researchers working in an international multidisciplinary team.
- Possess strong work ethic, creative problem solving, and be capable of working on own initiative.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills essential.
- The ability to comfortably handle complex clinical data sets and the outputs from analysis of biological tissue samples.
- An aptitude for scientific data visualization and communication of complex concepts in an understandable manner to a broad audience with varying levels of expertise in the research area.
PhD in an applicable Healthcare or Life Science specialty (e.g. anatomy, physiology, biomedical science, etc.), Biomedical Engineering, Medicine or equivalent. Candidates with a primary Bachelors degree or Masters degree with demonstrable experience in the field of research will also be considered.
