Our client is a major Irish supplier of highly specialized technological equipment to the scientific, medical and industrial markets. As a result of sustained growth an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the service team as a Field Service Engineer. Must have 3-5 years’ experience of servicing technical equipment (autoclaves, fume hoods, industrial washers, ideally) across a range of sectors – labs, clinical & pharma.

This role is responsible for providing high quality installation, repair, modification, and preventative maintenance of equipment for our client, and for their customers, ensuring that the highest level of customer service is always maintained.

This role will require travel to customer sites nationwide and is open to candidates from any location. The work is varied and dynamic so this role will suit candidates that like to experience different challenges on a regular basis. The role also offers opportunity for career progression.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing ongoing technical support across our client’s product range to 3rd level institutes, national research institutions, hospitals and industries throughout Ireland & Northern Ireland.
  • Typical duties include the Installation, commissioning, testing and preventative maintenance of; Laboratory washers/disinfectors, Steam Sterilizers/Autoclaves, Automated drug dispensing cabinets, Fume extraction systems, Temperature controlled enclosures (Fridges/Freezers/Incubators)
  • Resolve issues, repair or perform maintenance functions at client locations or in workshop.
  • Identify, analyze and repair product failures, order replacement parts as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with specified & agreed schedule.
  • Calibrate instruments or test equipment according to established standards.
  • Support sales team in client meetings, demo’s, trade shows and workshops with technical expertise/product knowledge as required.
  • Responsible for relaying customer feedback including sales opportunities, customer complaints, and service/failure trends to product managers and Service Manager.
  • Provide technical product training and basic user functionality training to customer base.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures, internally and externally with clients
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through the provision of a high quality and efficient service
  • Complete all service reports and associated paperwork in accordance with company procedures and processes
  • Ensure your vehicle is maintained to a high standard and conduct weekly and monthly checks as required by Health and Safety procedures.
  • Undertake product and technical training as required and keep up to date on best practice
  • Other ad-hoc duties, projects and assignments as needed or directed.
Education/Experience:
  • You will have a 3rd level qualification in engineering, or you could come from a laboratory background and be seeking a change of career.
  • Experience working with steam sterilization/ autoclaves is a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with MS packages
  • Good technical problem solving, troubleshooting and follow-up skills.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a service-oriented approach to all tasks and work activity
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations and individuals
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in and outside the company.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with skill in establishing priorities and managing workloads.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, schematic diagrams and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Professional who is experienced and dependable with discretion, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to clients both in assigned area and nationally, sometimes on short notice including occasional overseas travel for training.
  • Full drivers’ license.
