Field Service Technician (Robotic Pharmacy Systems)

Our client is at the forefront of leading-edge pharmacy dispensing products including shelving and drawer systems and robotic dispensers. The products have been sold in the UK and Ireland for over 20 years and are already widely used in pharmacies. They are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Field Service Technician who can commission their installation projects, provide technical on-site assistance and customer service and be the interface between the client base in the Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland with their manufacturing operation in Germany. The successful person shall report to the Senior Field Service Technician based in the Republic of Ireland. The person must be based in North Dublin/Leinster region of Ireland. The person shall work closely with Senior Field Service Technician, Sales representatives, other Field Service Technicians in the UK and Germany and Sales Admin (based in German HQ).


  • To be the primary interface between our clients Pharmacy Solutions and customers by providing technical assistance to existing clients (hotline/helpdesk and on-site support)
  • Addressing customer queries regarding equipment/faults/breakdowns and attending site visits
  • Acting as the Commissioning Engineer on installations
  • Attend regular customer review meetings from a technical and service perspective
  • Carry out and complete routine maintenance on systems and products
  • Carry out inspections to ensure that systems and installations meet the requirements of standards and inspectorates
  • Demonstrate effective time management by organising equipment required for site visits in advance
  • Control expenses to meet budget guidelines
Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering qualifications and knowledge of robotics and automation systems and associated software
  • Mechanical engineering Graduate (or similar) or Graduate calibre. If not graduate then formally recognised engineering qualifications – C&G’s, etc. or mechanical apprenticeship with at least 3 years of experience in robotics, automation, materials handling, SCADA, PLC, PAC, Instrumentation, Motion control, HMI or similar.
  • Alternatively, an experienced Field Service Technician who is seeking a more local role in 1 country.
  • PLC experience desired
  • Health and Safety Qualifications desired
  • Sound general technical understanding
  • Good communication & presentation skills
  • Ability to read and design technical drawings (e. g. floor plans)
  • Experience of commissioning/acting as a commissioning engineer
  • Experience of working within quality control frameworks
  • Willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, plus one visit per year to German HQ
  • Flexible – willingness to cope with wide variety of problems, customers and site conditions
  • Home based (must live north of Dublin, within Leinster to be able to cover the whole country and be accessible to Northern Ireland also.)
  • High level of personal integrity and loyalty to the company & its shareholders
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Detail oriented and meticulous in analysing and solving problems
  • Initiative – able to operate with minimal supervision but know when to consult/inform senior staff/management
  • A real team player who will relate well to colleagues. Receptive to the ideas of others
  • Oral and written communications skills
  • Good presence and s – an ambassador for the organisation
  • Full clean Irish driving license is essential
