Our client is a leading Irish organisation, with very strong R&D and Innovation teams, who are based in Drogheda, Co. Louth. They are seeking an NPI Programme Manager to manage a team of 3 as well as drive innovation within the organisation. This is a maternity contract and would be the ideal role for a certified project manager from an NPI (New Product Introduction) background to advance their career in a fast-growing Irish organisation.

The NPI Programme Manager will be responsible for leading a cross-functional product team in a fast-growing organisation to deliver new products and formats. Working alongside a cross-functional, global team, they will aim to meet strategic objectives through the delivery of a programme of work with multiple projects running in parallel, managing the full project lifecycle from initial concept through to deployment, production and launch. They will be responsible for all schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables for our clients Innovation and Renovation projects. They will manage the customer relationship at a senior stakeholder level and while they may have some day-to-day project delivery responsibility, they will typically be managing a small team of project managers. They will need knowledge of larger landscape without neglecting granular details while tracking project health and risk, resolving issues, maintaining standards and monitoring scope and project quality.

Portfolio Management:

  • Manage and develop pipeline / portfolio of NPI projects, life cycle management of programme (multiple products)
  • Drive successful (on-time and on-budget) delivery of a portfolio of projects, through proactive management of dependencies, issues and risks
  • Creating and managing programme plans
  • Manage programme scheduling and gap closure requirements
  • Achieve scope, schedule, and budget requirements
  • Maintaining programme objectives
  • Identifying and resolving issues and risks
  • Implementing change practices
  • Maintaining budgets
  • Reviewing project metrics across entire pipeline / portfolio, identifying potential problems and resolving or escalating
  • Reporting monthly on the health of the portfolio, calling out hot spots, issues, and projects needing attention
  • Leading Stage Gate Reviews
  • Insuring compliance with our clients Stage Gate & S&OP processes
  • Support commercial teams where needed with new product/market launch
Team Leadership:
  • Team leadership of 2 x Project Managers and 1 x Administration Assistant
  • Leading team meetings and setting expectations for PM and extended project teams
  • Manage resource planning and staffing activities for specific projects
  • Clearly communicate roles, expectations, and accountabilities to team
  • Drive accountability within core and extended for schedule and project deliverables
  • Be a resource to facilitate the resolution of project issues
  • Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports
Process Development
  • Effectively manage multiple new process development projects / activities
  • Ongoing review and challenge of existing processes, implementing continuous improvement changes as needed
  • Implementing change practices
Stakeholder Management:
  • Managing our client’s stakeholder relationships across the business, from SMEs, project team members, external partners up to senior Executive level
Strategy Management:
  • Assist commercial teams in developing long-term product portfolio vision and strategy
  • Provide input to and oversee execution of strategic plan, monitoring, and adapting as needed

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a similar role
  • Technical Degree and/or Masters' or equivalent
  • PMP (or equivalent) certification required
  • Background in Cosmetics or FMCG NPI would be most aligned sector wise
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and programs
  • Experience in Product/Project Lifecycle implementation
  • Experience working within new ERP implementation projects
  • Strong experience building and nurturing relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the business up to executive level
  • Proven leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams of all levels (local and global) and to effectively influence without authority
  • A passion for continuous improvement
  • Strong communicator - you proactively and positively communicate with your peers and customers to support and inform
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills, structured/analytical thinker – can simplify complex problems and issues in an easy-to-understand manner
