Packaging Technologist (LO A008354)

The Packaging Technologist will work directly with the Production, Quality, and Innovation teams, focusing on design, construction, and material usage for the product range. They will work to improve the industrial techniques used to package our products and drive internal packaging processes to minimize waste and improve efficiencies.


Role Deliverables

Packaging Development:

• Manages packaging development and improvement projects to meet business needs
• Developing knowledge of packaging materials and the related production processes. This includes knowledge of material compatibility, supplier processes, standards, and specifications
• Knowledge of the packaging industry from raw materials, conversion, printing, application and through distribution network.
• Demonstrated interest in & insights into sustainable materials, recycling systems and latest technologies.
• Material, product, and machine interface optimization with afocus on driving costs and waste out of the system.
• General knowledge of all plastic based films, labels, and paperboard packaging.
• Developing relationships and sourcing new suppliers/technologies as needed.
• Conducting feasibility studies to estimate product cost as well as analyse capital equipment, capacity, and capability requirements.
• Executing equipment qualification and process validation projects

• Drive processes to improve the quality, integrity, and cost performance of each of the packaging designs used
• Develop tests & systems to monitor and analyse line performance and initiate actions to avoid possible problems and maximise line reliability, robustness, availability, and product quality

• Leads the technical portion of the business case for routine projects. Technical representative on crocs functional projects
• Inputting into the development of the innovation and renovation pipeline from the outset.
• Developing and executing packaging trial plans and scheduling.
• Programming and troubleshooting processes and standards.
• Working with emerging technologies.

• Qualification in Engineering, Science, or relevant operational experience considered.
• Experience in an agile FMCG environment for approx. 2-4 years within similar role.
• Be aself-starter with demonstrated efficient work practices, good analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with apro-active attitude.
• Excellent communications skills and ability to work both as part of ateam and independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Project, Outlook.
• Awareness of how the packaging materials interact with the different automated equipment in manufacturing setting.
