Our client is a premium supplier of research products & technology with offices based in Kilkenny, Ireland. They are at the forefront of innovation since 2009. As the exclusive supplier of many of the world’s leading bioscience reagents to the Irish market they have many new products soon to be launched in Ireland, UK and throughout Europe.
Due to successful company growth, they are now looking to appoint a Scientific Officer to join the team. The role will be based at their new HQ in Kilkenny and will report to the General Manager. The Scientific Officer will be responsible for supporting the growth and development of the product portfolio range and will act as a Subject Matter Expert to communicate the service offering, understand the client’s service expectations and prepare and track proposals for service.
Role/Responsibilities:
- In depth understanding of applications and life science research tools used in the industry.
- Supporting revenue growth according to annual targets
- Support the commercial team as Subject Matter Experts on client’s products and services.
- Strong application and technical trouble shooting experience.
- Support marketing in the development of marketing materials for the service line
- Guiding product managers with scientific expertise on products
- Leverage understanding of resources to propose solutions to clients and identify opportunities to sales team
- Summarize and report metrics as required
- Take lead in developing technical workflow solutions to solve issues with existing clients or objections from potential clients
- Establish financial forecasts for assigned client projects
- Maintain information regarding the status and value of leads and opportunities, share information for revenue and resource planning activities
- Create and nurture relationships with scientific leadership and end users within current and prospective customers
- Participate and present at relevant industry conferences, seminars and webinars
- Work with the sales and marketing team to coordinate a full-service approach with prospective clients, reviewing trends in customer requirements and proposing strategies
- Demonstrate the ability to promote the company vision
- Responsible for auditing suppliers in Ireland and internationally
- Knowledge of international regulations and ISO13485 experience
- Responsible for developing and maintaining scientific relationship with partners and suppliers
- Manage all training with suppliers
- Working closely with the GM with strategic and tactical decision making.
- PhD in a science-related field; Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry etc OR (equivalent work experience and a BSc may be considered) with 10-15 years’ experience.
- Experience within the Clinical diagnostic and Assay Development fields.
- Strong commercial scientific expertise.
- Previous experience from a leading global life science manufacturing background would be ideal.
- Tissue culture experience and the knowledge of manufacturing 3D products would be highly desirable.
- Regulatory experience of 13485 & CE marking.
- Auditing experience.
- Exemplary communication and presentation skills, conceptual skills.
- Demonstrated strength in leadership and coaching others.
- Ability to identify problems and work toward a solution.
