Senior Business Development Manager (Cell/Molecular Biology)

Our client, a well-established Life Science Product distribution company, based in the midlands is looking for a Senior Business Development Specialist to join their National Team on a permanent basis. The role will cover the 32 counties on the island of Ireland allowing for incredible autonomy and career growth. An Honours degree/masters/PhD in science with a strong focus on cell biology is an essential requirement for this role due to the nature of the products being sold.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Research and pursue potential new business ventures
  • Liaise with existing sales team to maximise company growth
  • Develop and maintain lasting business relationships
  • Explain and demonstrate (where necessary) the products on offer
  • Set and attend client meetings to attain new business
  • Provide an extremely high level of customer service within a competitive market
  • Develop and sustain existing business relationships and increase depth of products into already existing accounts with the company.


Education/Experience:

  • Science qualification - PhD qualified ideally
  • 5+ years previous Life Science sales experience into Pharma/Universities/Hospital labs
  • Hands on exp of laboratory techniques and life science products in the fields of Molecular diagnostics and Lab automation.
  • Previous business development experience
  • Previous field sales experience
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical sector with reference to Drug Discovery.
  • In depth understanding of Cell Biology (Cell Signalling, Cell Health, Cell Based Bioassays), Nucleic acid analysis (Extraction, NGS) and Protein Analysis (Protein Detection, Immunoassays, Mass Spec, Protein Expression).
  • An ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
  • Experience of creating and executing strategic business plans in a proactive manner on own initiative
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Highly desirable to have an understanding of the Forensic analysis market.
  • Highly desirable to have an understanding of the Irish Pharmaceutical and Academics market.
