Our client is a leading distributor of specialty products and services for the Clinical Diagnostic, Biotechnology and Healthcare markets in Ireland and the UK. Their Head office is based in a new facility constructed in 2016 in Co. Tipperary. They are a leading supplier of rapid technology solutions for raw materials, finished product and environmental monitoring within Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Dairy and Drinking Water Sectors.

With the rapid expansion of the Dairy industry in particular in Ireland, they see significant opportunities for growth through both their established brands and some exciting new technologies which they have recently added to their portfolio.

They are seeking an enthusiastic person with an eye for success and the ability to work on their own initiative. This person must possess an ability to bring their technical acumen into a sales role. The candidate will use their knowledge and personal skills to maintain relationships and business with existing clients as well as developing business with new clients and potentially opening markets with existing and new products. The successful person must be willing to travel extensively for this role within their territory (Island of Ireland) and occasionally travel abroad to supplier training events.

Role/ Responsibilities:

  • To ensure planning and prioritising of personal sales activities and actively prospecting new and existing clients to drive the business growth.
  • New business development by researching and targeting potential new customers with our product portfolio, providing information on the benefits and added value of our range.
  • Have effective management of existing accounts by maintaining good customer relationships and seeking opportunities for new sales with existing clients.
  • Work closely with the Sales director to establish sales targets, quarterly forecasts to ensure targets are met/exceeded in line with the company objectives.
  • Ensure that sales margins and achieve annual sales revenue and profitability targets as agreed with quarterly reviews of forecast.
  • Respond to and follow up on sales/ support enquiries rapidly and thoroughly.
  • Provide exceptional front line technical support for existing customers and work closely with the customer service team.
  • Work closely with our Marketing Department
  • Creating a good working relationship with our suppliers and work with them to resolve any customer issues.
  • Liaise with the SOP/Service Team to ensure smooth turnaround of Capital Sales and Installations (IQ/OQ).
  • Attend exhibitions, trade shows or our clients workshops throughout the year.
  • Attend key product & sales training courses


  • Minimum of 3-5 years relevant commercial experience in sales or business development
  • Experience of working in Pharma / Life Sciences / Food & Water Safety, Lab environment. Experience in Dairy and Food testing markets is a preference.
  • Qualified to a higher degree level in a scientific subject, ideally Microbiology, Chemistry, or Quality Assurance
  • Industry manufacturing experience considered an advantage
  • Proven track record in achieving sales and profitability targets
  • Self-driven & able to work alone with a clear focus on sales
  • Professional approach, self-motivated with a dynamic approach to business.
  • Creative talent and the ability to solve tough problems by ensuring solutions to resolve any issues.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Computer literate in Outlook, Word, Excel and the internet. Experience in a CRM Tool (e.g. Salesforce) an advantage
  • Full Driving License
  • Willing to travel, mainly within the island of Ireland but occasionally abroad.
