The World’s second largest pharmaceutical company Novartis is set to increase it’s already sizable Irish presence with a regional business services centre in Dublin, creating about 100 jobs for the area. The new centre at Beech Hill, Clonskeagh will be dedicated to digital marketing, salesforce training and medical communications services for the company. After an extensive study of Europe, Novartis finally settled upon Ireland as a location due to the Irish workforce’s high level of education and pharmaceutical prowess not to mention Dublin’s already established position as Europe’s IT capital.
Novartis are the second Swiss Multinational to make such an announcement in recent months – Zurich Insurance recently announced 112 jobs a cyber security centre in Dublin. Ireland’s Pharma sector is in quite a positive place right now. IDA Ireland has already attracted a 9 out of 10 of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies to establish business services centres in Ireland – these include Pfizer, Merck, Lilly, Gilead, Aspen, Shire and Allergan. Novartis themselves already employ around 1200 workers on the island.
