Our client is a not-for-profit organisation that has been established by a range of stakeholders across the medicines supply chain in Ireland (pharmaceutical manufacturers, parallel distributors, wholesalers and community pharmacists) and is set up to manage a Medicines Verification System as required by the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD).
Location & Hours
This post is based at the office in Dublin 2. There is a hybrid working model in place.
This is a 2.5 - 3 day per week part-time permanent role
Reports To
Chief Executive, with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer
Job Purpose
The Policy Analyst will provide support to the Chief Executive and the Chief Operating Officer in delivery of the Corporate Strategy and stakeholder engagement by conducting high quality research and analysis, developing policy positions and supporting communications activities. The Policy Analyst will also contribute to the organisation’s governance by contributing to the internal governance programme and supporting Board-level reporting.
Role/ Responsibilities:
Policy and research
- Monitoring and analysing policy and legislative developments relevant to our clients remit at national and EU level
- Gathering information and evidence to support rollout of new strategic initiatives by our client
- Drafting policy briefs, position papers and consultation responses
- Supporting the Chief Executive in managing our clients governance programme, to include drafting of new and updated policies and procedures
- Supporting preparations for Board and Board Committee meetings
- Drafting minutes of Board meetings, Board committee meetings and other meetings as required
- Assist in developing organisational strategies and annual business plans
- Track implementation of strategies and business plans
- Evaluate the effectiveness of new strategic initiatives
- Supporting the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer with stakeholder engagement and delivery of our clients communications strategy to include drafting of materials and presentations, and monitoring effectiveness of activities in this area
- Contributing effectively to operation of our clients quality management system
- Ensuring accurate attention to detail and consistent adherence to procedures relevant to the role
- Identifying opportunities for improvement in service delivery, maximising use of technology
- Proposing and promoting environmentally friendly procedures and work practices
- Other duties as our client may reasonably require
Education/ Experience:
Required
- Strong educational background to at least level 8 in healthcare/life sciences or in a field relevant to public policy, research or administration
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in policy development or research or strategic communication
- Postgraduate degree or diploma in a relevant area
- Experience of working within a healthcare organisation, in the pharmaceutical sector or in an agency offering public relations or other consultancy services in the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector
- Familiar with the regulatory system for medicines in Ireland and Europe
- Project management experience
- Experience collaborating with colleagues in different countries
- Ability to think strategically, absorb large amounts of information quickly and deliver under tight deadlines
- Ability to independently produce high-quality research and policy documents
- Able to act on own initiative in the prioritisation of work and to manage changing priorities
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Resilient and persistent
- High levels of discretion and confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a capacity to distil complex information and ideas into concise and accessible content
- Committed to providing a quality service and continuous improvement
- Willingness to get involved in ad-hoc projects outside the daily duties of the role
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well in a small multidisciplinary team
