Company:
My client are a Galway-based medical device design, engineering, and contract manufacturing company that provides end-to-end product development services for MedTech and life sciences clients. The Galway site functions primarily as a design and development centre, supporting concept generation, industrial and mechanical design, human factors, prototyping, and test method development, while manufacturing and scale-up are supported through the company’s facilities in Ireland and internationally. My client is ISO 13485 certified and FDA registered, and works with both multinational OEMs and start-ups to bring regulated medical devices—such as delivery systems, drug-delivery and neonatal care devices—from concept through to commercial supply.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Conceive of and develop compelling and innovative product solutions.
•Strong idea generation and idea communication capabilities – hand sketching, 2d/3d visualisations
•Lead customers on the products development journey and co-ordinate customer workshops to gain insights into their needs.
•Gain insights into customer and end user needs via state-of-the-art user centred design tools.
•Familiarity with ISO 62366 requirements.
•Co-ordinate and participate in research technical, user, market, brand, manufacturability etc. during research phases and throughout design programs Phase 0 and Phase 1 primarily.
•Successfully resolving product aesthetics, usability, function and manufacturability.
•Understand brand and how this is expressed through the product experience.
•Proficient in 3d CAD (Solidworks)
•Management of all levels of Prototyping within projects
•Working within a multidisciplinary team on diverse projects
•Resolving design issues as they arise in all relevant phases
•Liaising with Product Development and Process Development functions to align on the feasibility and manufacturability of products.
•Liaison and management with external bodies and partners as needed.
•Liaison with wider teams as needed –operations, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, finance.
•Strong product visualisation and presentation capabilities including sketching, 3d modelling, Rendering.
•Participates in PR and Sales support activity as required
•Support wider team as required
•Support Quotation, Planning and financial management of projects vs budget and schedule.
•Support the generation of timely and accurate project status reports.
•Working within an ISO 13485 framework (experience of design control process is an advantage)
•Develop and maintain Dept. Processes in line with Industry best practice.
Qualification
•Relevant Product/ Industrial Design Qualifications (Bachelor Degree) - Master’s degree an advantage.
•Additional Human Factors education an advantage.
Experience
•Relevant experience in industry – minimum 2 years
•Experience in development of product aesthetics, ergonomics and user centred design, engineering/DFM.

•Excellent communication and presentation skills (written, verbal and visual)
•Portfolio demonstrating product development and visualisation/presentation experience
