Product Application Specialist (IVD) - Ireland

Our client is a specialised distribution organisation supplying essential products and services to the Healthcare, Pharma, Life Sciences and Food Sectors across Ireland and the U.K.

The IVD Portfolio is diverse and widely established, covering a broad range of segment presence and technology. They have a range of products in Microbiology Segment, (Blood Transfusion segment, Point of Care Segment and IA Segment.

Their extensive portfolio also encompasses an array of specialised equipment and environmental monitoring solutions applicable to a range of segments (e.g. Cold Storage solutions, liquid handling and environmental monitoring) which complement our IVD diagnostic solutions.

The Product Applications Specialist (IVD) will be responsible for establishing product expertise, technical support and application specific knowledge support with internal and external customers, in particular the IVD sales team.

The focus will be on engaging with customers on a technical level to offer product specific support for the IVD portfolio and associated technologies. The position will involve direct engagement across Ireland with customers via online support and site visits. Further focus is to ensure successful application, implementation, qualification, and use of our clients IVD products. This will be achieved by supporting sales through demonstrations whilst supporting customers for application development work, initial start-up, training and trouble shooting.

In addition to working closely with the commercial team, there will be considerable collaboration with the engineering/customer service teams, ensuring that the complete Value Add is presented appropriately and effectively.

The role is expected to provide considerable personal development opportunities with ongoing training and front-line exposure to the market.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • To provide training and technical support to customers and the IVD sales team on all relevant products through demonstration and professionally conducted trails.
  • Support the IVD sales team as the customer's point of technical contact for application focused queries and issues related to the IVD portfolio.
  • To promptly address product specific queries and feedback from customers and the IVD team relating to IVD portfolio.
  • Work closely with Marketing to define and continually assess the IVD portfolio and continually contribute to communicating our “value add” messaging with each of our partners.
  • Become technical subject matter expert on the full IVD portfolio and newly emerging technologies (focusing on our direct Diagnostic solutions).
  • To organise, attend and report an all exhibitions and workshops as required.
  • Play an active role in Tender submissions working closely with the sales manager and tenders team to co-ordinate all technical specific product information.
  • Provide both remote and onsite support to customers, IVD sales division and service division.
  • Work closely with the engineering function to understand how best to address customer requirements in relation to technical and engineering support.
  • Ensuring proper Complaint Handling and documentation in compliance with our Quality System.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction in coordination with our company expectations.
  • Completing special projects where required (e.g. installations, IOQ etc).
  • Keeping up to date on new technologies and developments in the IVD market and ensuring that this information is readily available for any potential new supplier onboarding process.
  • Work with various teams within the company and external partners to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Play an active role in the screening of new potential partners with the management team.
  • Play an active role in the “go-to-market” strategy of new agency launches and work closely with the Sales Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A University degree or higher in a Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life Science.
  • Significant background in the IVD market (e.g. molecular diagnostic technologies or blood transfusion) in either a clinical or industrial setting would be considered a key advantage.
  • Passion for science.
  • A good understanding in modern laboratory practices and quality regulations, in particular the aspects of ISO15189 and ISO17025.
  • Excellent IT skills with experience in diagnostic platform interfacing with LIS desirable.
  • A positive attitude with the drive and work ethic to meet targets.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with ability to engage fluently with customers and management on a technical basis.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently to achieve target and goals.
  • Ability to adhere to internal policies and procedures.
  • Full driving license required.
  • International travel may be required on occasion.
