Shape the Future of Medical Device Innovation An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior R&D Engineer to join a rapidly growing medical device company based in Dublin. This innovative organisation is developing next-generation technology designed to improve the lives of patients worldwide and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge medical device development from concept through to commercialisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and wants to play a key role within a collaborative, highly innovative R&D team. Working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, you will help deliver life-changing medical technology while contributing to the continued growth of a dynamic organisation.
The Role As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will provide technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle. You will be responsible for developing innovative design solutions, managing development projects and ensuring products are successfully transferred into manufacturing while meeting quality and regulatory requirements.
You will also mentor junior engineers and work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and Operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead medical device development projects from concept through design freeze and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Develop product, material, equipment and manufacturing process specifications.
  • Manage project plans, development timelines and technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, design iterations, testing activities and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Design Control, Quality Management Systems and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support design verification, validation and manufacturing transfer activities.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements across product development processes.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers within the R&D team.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and project updates to key stakeholders.
About You To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience within the medical device industry.
  • Strong experience in medical device product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working within a regulated design control environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Systems and medical device development processes.
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience mentoring or leading engineers.
